JUSTICE HAS A JAM OF SOME 279,000 NATIONALITY FILES
The Minister of Justice, Juan Carlos Campo, has recognized this Tuesday in the Senate the jam in the civil registries to process the nationality files, since during the state of alarm, only 12,000 of the 291,000 cases to be resolved have been resolved, due to what still remains about 279,000.
The head of Justice has admitted that there is a "wide problem" with the processing and resolution of nationality files in civil registries that although it had been carried over from 2019, "has worsened" due to the confinement by Covid-19 until the point to consider that the current situation is "stuck".
For his part, the ERC senator recalled that "this problem has existed in Spain for years, not only due to the effects of the Covid-19" and has complained about the "huge waiting lists" for the swearing of the flag between 8 months and a year when this procedure has to be done in 180 days from when the file is approved, according to the regulations.
